Overview
The Ecoflo® Peat Based Biofilter offers a permanent solution for safe onsite wastewater
Treatment. Ecoflo is designed for residential, institutional and commercial applications that passively treat septic tank effluent to advanced secondary treatment levels.
How It Works
The Ecoflo® Biofilter wastewater treatment process is accomplished when partially treated septic tank effluent flows to the Ecoflo® unit and into an internal tipping bucket. The tipping bucket ensures that septic tank effluent is dosed equally in approximately One gallon increments onto the peat medium by specially designed distribution plates. As the wastewater percolates through the peat medium, it is absorbed briefly where beneficial aerobic microorganism and fungi degrade the waste constituents and produce highly treated effluent.
Residential strength wastewater is consistently treated to <10 mg/L CBOD5 and TSS and fecal coliform to <10,000 CFU/100 ml with measurable levels of dissolved oxygen without the use of mechanical aerators or blowers. Treated effluent from the Ecoflo® unit can be dispersed in a wide variety of ways depending on the site and soil conditions.
